The Central Idea of the Text is that God tells Moses He will call and empower Bezalel, Oholiab and other craftsmen of the community to construct the Tabernacle, its furniture, altars, laver, and other items for worship (Ex. 31:1-11). The craftsmen had a very important role in the construction of the Tabernacle as well as its maintenance; however, they worked behind the scenes, whereas the priests were more public figures. The effective believer—whether in public or private service—is the one who surrenders his resources and abilities to accomplish the will of God. In contrast to believers under the Mosaic Law, every believer in the Church Age is indwelt with the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation and can be filled with the Spirit on a regular basis (Eph. 1:13; 4:30; 5:18). When the Mosaic Law was in effect as the rule of life, only some persons received the Holy Spirit (Ex. 31:3; Num. 11:25; 27:18; 1 Sam. 16:13), and those few could have the Spirit taken from them, though they did not forfeit their salvation (Judg. 16:20; 1 Sam. 16:14-16; Ps. 51:11). In the Church Age, being "filled with the Spirit" is an ongoing activity in which the believer submits to the Spirit's guiding influence which is always according to Scripture (Eph. 5:18; Gal. 5:16). The Christian is spiritual when he willingly obeys God's Word even when he does not feel like it (i.e. to love, forgive, encourage, etc.).
